Whether you’re an experienced player, a beginner, or just enjoy the game for the walk and companionship, North Luffenham Golf Club has a great deal to offer. Whilst the course is made up of nine fairways, it features 12 greens and 18 tees so you’ll enjoy a different challenge if you opt to play a round of 9 or 18. The course is open to members and visitors are welcome. There’s no need to book a tee time and the dress code is relaxed.

Burghley Park Golf Course is an 18 hole golf course founded in 1890 it celebrated its 125 year history in 2015. Burghley Park is one of the finest courses in the region. New and important developments will take place during the winter months over the next four to five years.

For a fun, healthy day out, Rutland Cycling makes it easy for you with route maps, child carriers, gel saddle covers and plenty of refreshments en route. Full-day, long-term and group rates are available, plus student offers.

The company’s recently-launched E-bikes are on offer if you’re looking for something a little more sedate but don’t want to miss out on the cycling experience. Alternatively, you can hire a tandem, perfect for a romantic day out.

Rutland Watersports Centre is situated on the north shore of Rutland Water Park at Whitwell. This is a day sailing centre owned and operated by Anglian Water providing a great place to hold or enrol in events, courses, activity days, corporate days or a bit of retail therapy. The centre is a RYA and an AALA registered school. Rutland Water is proud to host the Rutland Sailability program that is designed to enable people with any disability to enjoy sailing in a safe environment.

Rutland Water


Rutland Water offers some of the best fishing in the region, if not the UK, and is a true haven for anglers. Trout in the reservoir can grow up to an amazing 15lbs and huge Pike, that can grow up to 40lbs, lurk beneath the water.

The reservoir not only attracts leisure anglers but also plays host to some top level competitions attracting discerning anglers from far and wide.

Fishing at Eyebrook reservoir

Eyebrook Reservoir


The nearby Eyebrook Reservoir is surrounded by beautiful fields and dotted with spruce and willow trees. This 400 acre water is a mature stream fed reservoir with easily accessible bank and good water levels year round. The water is stocked with Rainbow and Blue Trout as well as the Native Brown Trout. No other watersports take place here, so peaceful fishing is guaranteed.

Wing Hall Estate


Wing Hall Estate is set amongst acres of glorious Rutland countryside and has two good-sized, well-stocked lakes. Wing Fishing Lakes offer a variety of fishing challenges to all levels and include general Coarse Fish, including Carp (Ghost and Common), Bream and Tench.

There are 20 pitches on each lake, offering space and privacy whilst you enjoy a great day’s fishing. The largest reported catch was a 27lbs Carp (locally known as Nessie!) with regular catches of 15lb Carp.

Homeclose Fishery


Homeclose Fishery consists of four lakes aimed at the pleasure angler who holds to the more traditional values of fishing. Whether you fancy Tench fishing at dawn or float fishing for Carp, you’ll fall in love with these four traditional reed lined lakes that are dotted with lily beds and overhanging willow trees.

The reed bed filters for each lake ensure a very high level of water quality and healthy fish, allowing you to catch ‘fin perfect’ fish every time. Open all year from 6am until 8pm.

Somerby Equestrian Centre was established in 1991 by Gail Stimson. Based in the heart of beautiful countryside they offer off-road hacking from 1 hour to full day rides.

Qualified instructors are on hand 7 days a week at this ABRS and BHS approved riding school. With both outdoor and indoor riding facilities, you’re guaranteed a superb riding experience come rain or shine!

Horse Riding

The Leicestershire & Rutland Bridleway Association work hard to ensure that there are miles of safe riding in the area.

They have an organised program of wonderful rides in beautiful countryside including the opportunity to ride routes such as the Hambleton Bluebells, not usually open to horse riders.The LRBA are also proud of the work they do to help restore ‘lost’ bridleways.
